Looking for new friends in Saigon Moving to Saigon

#1 User is offline   moe szyslak

Hi everyone!

My name is Dan and I'm about to settle down in Saigon. I would like to meet new people, both native vietnamese and expats. I don't speak any vietnamese so our conversation must be in english.

I don't have any plans to work so I will have a lot of spare time :-)

I am a laid-back person and very down-to-earth. My main interests are music & computers. I like to hang out on coffee shops to talk/surf/drink and I would love taking some beer with you.

I'd love to hear from you guys. Please reply my topic and leave your email address or your cellphone number with a short description of yourself.

PS I'm not looking for my future wife here and I'm not gay

Kindly
/Dan

Andy: I will arrive August 29th. I will stay at a hotel for the first couple of days until I have managed to find a cheap apartment/house. I have been in contact with a vietnamese friend during the last months and she will help me making my arrival as smooth as it can get :-)

I kindly accept your offer regarding the beer under condition that the 2nd is on me :-)

Phazey: No I don't play golf, sorry. I will try to start working out again and hopefully begin running if it is possible (depending on where I manage to find a home).

Dan,

Fine that you are looking for an apartment, but i think you can also get a studio here. How much renting you expect for because i might give you some advice, and also depends on how long you want to stay in Saigon too. Here they request to sign an 1 year contract. I am living in District 1 in a new apartment, where the rent goes around 700 usd/month furnished or 450 usd unfurnished and there is bunch of studio i know is around 300 usd or cheaper but not in the centre. I dont know what you are going to do here bcause it should fit to your purpose of living here.

your saying that your not looking for a wife? so how old are you? I dont know how to provide my info to your personal message, so can you try with my msn andy_vn2003 at hotmail. Further question, just ask.

Xin chao all

I intend to move to hcmc in 2 - 6 months - I require just a studio apartment and advice on where to study TEFL.

Is it easy to gain a teaching position once I have gained the TEFL qualification?

I am British born and will need some buddies and beer friends.

Jules

Hi Dan, how was the move to Saigon? I'm going to visit HCMC next week, may 12ish. If you've settled in Saigon and life is good, and have the time, would like to meet up for drinks and check out the nightlife. I'm from Southern California (yeah socal but don't surf), 30's asian male, and DEFINITELY NOT GAY. Don't speak a word of Vietnamese (except curse words and pho). Like to get your relative "newbie" take on vietnam.

hi dan,

:"PS I'm not looking for my future wife here and I'm not gay". lol, good point there dan:)

if you are into sports it is a good way to meet new friends. see saigonsaints.com (football), saigon-ultimate.com (freesbee) and sites.google.com/site/vetcupviet/home (tennis).

otherwise locate bui vien st., for some beer, this area is packed with foreigners (turists and expats).

best regards,
henrik
