I also advice you not to focus solely on one ethnic group like Vietnamese, as there are other women too in Asia, who are different, but nevertheless Asian women, like Filipinas, Japanese and many others.
Some study about countries and languages might be useful too - if you cannot travel now, then wait and save your money and do not waste it for American women.
A Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese etc. woman living in USA is an American woman of Asian origin, and not an Asian woman. Not the same.
Their looks might be Asian, but their behavior is American - these people often cannot speak properly the native language of their parents.

In addition to the above, the site wouldn't allow me to edit for some reason.
Yohan has it all right but I would put it a bit more simply than that if your interested in hooking up with a native Viet.
If your not fully prepared to get your head around her culture and see where she's coming from, forget it.
If your not fully prepared to be part of the family support unit, forget it.
If your not fully prepared not to be number 1 at all times, in particular where family is concerned, forget it.
That's the smallest start and if one of those 3 don't fit, forget it and stick to your own or an American or whatever Asian. Cheers.
Ahh edit did work.

That's a rather sweeping generalization. I guess it depends on who you marry? I've been married to a Viet for 5 years. Never in that time have i had provide financial support to her family. Culturally it's important that BOTH parties make an attempt to embrace one another's culture, after all it's not just an alien culture to the Viets. Lucky for me my wife had studied at Uni in Singapore so she had an understanding of a 'Westernized' Culture and since moving to the UK has fully emabraced the lifestyle (not the binge drinking though). Equally i have made an effort to learn some of the language and i have a good understanding of Viet culture. But as i mentioned in the beginning of my little rant, it depends on who you marry. Not all Viets will use you as a cash cow to support their family. Of course some will. Find the right girl and it's all good.
However i would like to add that Viet women are very assertive and don't mind bossing and nagging.
