Big news in Malaysia, but wouldn't raise an eyebrow here.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested 16 suspected prostitutes in anti-vice raids along Jalan Thambipillay, Brickfields here on Monday night.

City police secret society, gambling and vice division (D7) chief Deputy Superintendent Razali Abu Samah spearheaded the operation which also included two officers and eight men from the unit during the 7.45pm raid.

“The 16 women arrested were mostly from Sabah and Sarawak, aged between 24 and 34 years old,” he said.

What about all the Thai prossies (I assume they were Thai) you used to see skulking around the backstreets of Georgetown in Pulau Pinang?

You know, this all is why so many men coming from everywhere prefer Thailand and they leave a lot of money there...also Malay men are entering Thailand for their nightlife.

Who can feel disturbed because of these 16 women in Kuala Lumpur?

In Malaysia, where ever you go, you feel always somewhat restricted, if you are a single man. That's the other - dark - side of the life in Malaysia - there is not so much population, and not much communication between Chinese, Indian, Malay and other groups and foreigners.

Malaysia is only nice for you, if you come with your own wife, or even better with an entire family - all of you, as it is not so easy there to find nice people for some fun, regardless your age, regardless who you are. - Otherwise, if you are alone, it will be boring soon - terrible boring, even the few cities are getting dark early... just silence.

After checking it out, all and everything, we decided some years ago not to go to Malaysia anymore, we bought our condominium in Pattaya area, still the best choice for retirement.

There are other reasons too to prefer Thailand to Malaysia, like what you have to pay for real estate (up to 2 times more), daily goods (rather little choice and also more expensive than in Thailand), missing public traffic which requires you to drive your own car, expensive health insurance...

The only good with Malaysia is the visa - you arrive and get a stamp, 3 months, no questions about anything. But otherwise? Especially during the last years while reading all such news like above, I am getting more and more sceptical.
