Attention: Singapore chapter of OE. I was going to title this post...

"Run to the hills, run for your lives 2: Billy Graham isn't coming to Singapore, but I am!"
:w00t:

But looking at what happened to a similarly named forum post in the Thailand section, I've decided against it. :rofl2:

Do you gents get together every so often for a beer or three? I will be in Singapore as part of my annual leave from 23rd to 25th February and 10th and 11th March. Dates aren't rigidly fixed, but they'll only vary a day or so. It'd be nice to meet you and put faces and real names to the screen ID's. Don't worry, Captain, your secret identity will remain just that!

I'll hopefully be staying on Orchard Road in the humourously named "student accommodation" rooms at the YMCA which, as you doubtless know, is only a stone's throw from Dhoby Gaut MRT, so getting just about anywhere on the island will not be a major problem.

Hello UG,

Andiamo and I get together periodically for "at least" 3 beers. TizMe has also been known to put in an appearance, and Stocky did once when he was in town. You've definitely got a central location accomodation-wise and personally I work just down the road from there, but others are further out of town. I should be around on both sets of dates you mention and happy to do either (or both!)

When you're sure of your dates, let us know and we'll canvass opinions for a location.

Cheers
CC

I can't believe it!!!... I'll be passing through Singapore that weekend... but I can't pull a stopover on my ticket, so I'll only be passing through the airport for an hour.

I'd be up for a beer. The only problem is, both dates you mention are mid-week when I often have late night conference calls. However I'll see what I can do to free up some time.

Mid week is not very good for me either usually, sorry.

Midweek drinking - bring it on!

:yahoo:

(Be a shame if others can't make it though)

Unfortunately I've only got the three weeks. I wanted four weeks, but I'm by myself in Brisbane and my boss reckons he can only cover me from Sydney for three. Bummer!

I land at Changi late on Monday 22nd and will be heading over the Causeway on the 26th. Return to Singers on Tuesday 9th March and fly home early Friday 12th.

Actually, in light of the above comments, I want to spend about a week in Singers. It really doesn't matter what days they are. If I head straight into Malaysia I can get back to Singers on Saturday the 6th. If that suits all, or most, I can change things around. The only thing I've booked at this stage is my airfare.

Maybe the first round can be out at Changi with you, Mandi, if you can get landside.

So hold on a minute. Let me get this straight. You planned a flight with Singapore as a stopover, at the weekend and it didn’t occur to you to come out for an evening of drinking heavily in an expat bar with your loyal Singapore subjects? Beyond belief!

:-)

I actually misread the OP, and I won't be there over that weekend after all (for some strange reason, my eyes read 24th Jan)... but...

... Right from the early planning stages of this UK trip, I was minded to stay in Singapore for a few beers with you guys, but there is a critical reason I can't leave CR a couple of days ahead of my flight to Europe, and it involves lots of sex and a peak of ovulation over that weekend, so I'm leaving it to the very last minute to leave CR to maximize my wife's exposure to my swimmers. Is that peek into the inner workings of my personal life sufficient excuse? :D ...

... and I can't stopover on that ticket :D

I promise I'll swing by the Singapore chapter for a couple of nights of beer, back slapping and exchange of witty banter on the return leg ;) ... A Mandrunk promise is just that.

I suppose bringing a laptop with a webcam, Skype and a wireless dongle to the pub for your conference calls is out of the question?

:w00t:

But seriously, if either Saturday the 6th or Sunday the 7th of March is "doable" for all/most of us, I'll pencil it in. Otherwise, can we get everyone likely to attend to put up dates they are available and we can cross-ref for the best attendance? The more, as they say, the merrier! :drink:

p.s. I'm known as a "two can screamer". A "night on the pi$$" is relatively cheap for me when I'm paying for my own drinks- even at SGD 10 for a Heine in a Singapore pub! :rofl2:

Drinking problem? I drink, I get drunk, I throw up, then I pass out. NO PROBLEM! :gathering: :drink: :puke: :stretcher:

One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, FLOOR! :drunk:

Guinness and oysters, apparently, to build up your swimmer's strngth and numbers.

Mind you, oysters are a bit hit-and-miss. Ate a dozen the other day and only six of them worked! :w00t:

(And how old is THAT joke?)

Assuming we're not busy mounting a revolution against the Internet Czar of Chiang Rai for passing by and ignoring us (hint: that was a joke), Saturday 6th March looks fine for me. Sunday evening is difficult as have to be up at the proverbial sparrows fart on weekdays to do the skool run (skools start unbelievably early here), although Sunday afternoon drinkies always go down well :P

As folks are scattered all over the island home-wise, suggest we see who can make it first and then pick a venue...

I don't think I'll be able to join in.
I'm free 27-28 Feb weekend but not the following one.

That's a shame Tiz, it would be good to see you. Unfortunately I am away (junior rugby tour to KL) the weekend of 26-28 Feb, but free the weekend when you are busy!
