In Singapore's bid to diversify its energy sources, going nuclear is a feasibility that should be studied, said the Economic Strategies Committee (ESC).

Calling it a "possible option" to meet "baseload electricity demand, as well as energy security imperatives", the ESC said advances in nuclear technology are also "making it much safer than earlier designs".

Wonder what the Malaysians and Indonesians will think of having a reactor on their doorstep?

Tsk tsk Singapore wont be able to survive a modern nuclear blast.
It would be almost impossible for Singapore to recover from a nuclear blast. economy? it would definitely not be the first thing to consider.

Atomic energy power plants are operating in Japan since many years - without atomic energy Japan would be in big troubles, about 50 percent of all electricity is produced using atomic power.

The question is if Singapore really needs that. There are not so many people living there.

The start to be able to use atomic energy will cost a huge amount of money. Japan has a good network and electricity is everywhere required among 126 million people.

In Singapore are only about 5 million people, but maybe electricity can be sold into Malaysia? Otherwise I think, an atomic power plant does not make much sense for this little island itself.

In Santesoa la, next to the new casino.

I think it would be great for Singapore to have a nuclear power plant, my uranium mine shares would go up as we will have another customer to sign the off take of the yellow cake.
