Taxi drivers, city residents alerted of fake banknotes
The FM91 traffic station Monday warned the public about strangers passing fake banknotes. Radio station executive Jaiton Sriwangpol said the 1644 hotline had received 57 complaints from August 1-January 31.
Of the total victims, 50 were taxi drivers, three were taxi passengers and four gas station employees. The bogus bills came in denominations of Bt20, Bt50, Bt100 and Bt1,000.

Presumably the idea is for the people running the scam to hire a lot of little punks cheaply and have them take short taxi rides and buy cheap items and pay with high denomonation bills - but not too high so as not to arouse suspicion. Their change is then of course legit. I imagine your earnings would rapidly add up that way.

It's not a bad idea to give him a fake banknote as tip for a crazy drive, if he has no change for the genuine banknote
