According to today's Bangkok Post, Catholic Bishops in the Philippines are calling for the sacking of Health Secretary, Esperanza Cabral.
Birth control issues came into the limelight again last week, when the minister promoted the use of condoms and handed out free packets on Valentine's Day.
Bishop Ramon Arguelles stated, 'It's immoral for someone in the government to be pushing the use of condoms, which we all know is not a deterrent to Aid's prevention.'

More brainwashing from the Pope.
Time he lightened up on condom use.

If god hadn't wanted people to use condoms, then he wouldn't have made latex impervious to semen!!

There's nothing in the bible that says it's wrong to pull out early and have a soft hand massage from your lady to finish the job.
That way everyone's happy.

There is not so much difference between the teaching of the conservative Catholic Church and Shia Islam.

In Philippines, without blessing of the Catholic Church, there is no way to go for a politician.

The next president of the Philippines (election in May 2010) will be likely an evangelist. Brother Eddie, there is a thread about him in this Philippine forum section...

And these are not even conservative Roman Catholics...

Generally, Islam and Christianity are quite similar with their moral teachings.

Shia Muslim however do never require women to hide their face - this is different from the Hanafi, and it is about the same as conservative Christians who require women to cover their hair and to cover their legs with long skirts.

Shia Muslim also encourage women to study, quite different from teachings of the Wahabi like in Saudi Arabia or the Taliban...
There are now more women in Iran studying in universities than men.

Of course, Islam, same as Catholics are strongly against condoms, contraceptives etc.

It's somewhat strange to me, why Western people are complaining against the Catholic Church in Philippines, while remaining totally silent against the (SAME!) teachings of Imams in Islamic countries, like Bangladesh, which are also horrible overpopulated.

It's also funny, that Western people are complaining against the Chinese government, BECAUSE it is actively doing something against overpopulation.

Conclusion = Double standard to fit Western political correctness?

;)

Bishop Ramon Arguelles stated, 'It's immoral for someone in the government to be pushing the use of condoms, which we all know is not a deterrent to Aid's prevention.'

First, As I know it, "Pull out early" in love-making does not remove the risk of pregnancy. Obviously, those priests are not concerned by the explosion of the human race. The more adherants they have the better it is for them.

Second, the Catholic Church finds it immoral for someone in the government to be pushing the use of condoms, but they don't find it super-immoral to tolerate pedophile-priests who continuously prey on the young altar-boys throughout the globe!    :P
