'WE'VE got to make old people productive and I don't think there should be a retirement age. You work as long as you can work and you'll be healthier and happier for it.'You ask me to stop working all of a sudden, I think I'd just shrivel up, face the wall and that's that. But I'm still functioning, if not at the rate at which I was functioning, say, 20 years ago ... I have aches and pains, but nothing terminal and I can keep going.

'I think the Japanese solve it by giving the old people robots and gadgets to work with. So they are still productive. They take less pay.

'Now this is where, in Singapore, it becomes very painful...

It's fine if you do something you enjoy, but for some poor grunt on the factory floor retirement is seen as a goal. I like my work, so I don't see retirement as the goal, my aim is to find the right balance between work and family, I'm not planning on retiring.

The question remains, for what reason are you legally obliged to pay for a public retirement fund, if our leaders (not only in Singapore) want you to work until you die?

What happens with all that money you paid during the last 30 to 40 years?

I am looking forward to my retirement and especially for my retirement allowance, as sooner as better. I want to get my money back...

I also think Harry (LKY) might be trying to ensure he never gets put out to pasture. Personally, the only way he'll retire is permanently- taken out of the front door feet first.
