Amina Mariam Bokhary Makes a Mockery of the Law in Hong Kong

What is it with high profile people in 'certain Asian countries' that conveniently get diagnosed with such conditions as Bi-Polar, or similar, that gets them off a custodial sentence? Take Amina Mariam Bokhary for example, who has just been convicted for assaulting a police officer for the THIRD TIME, but gets away without a prison sentence, again... she's the niece of a top Hong Kong judge :thmbup: ...

The niece of a top judge has been spared a prison term despite being convicted for a third time of assaulting a police officer.

But there was outrage and worry after Amina Mariam Bokhary, the 33-year- old niece of Court of Final Appeal Judge Kemal Shah Bokhary, left Eastern Magistracy after being put on probation for a year on the grounds she has a drinking problem brought on by bipolar disorder - or manic depression - and comes from a good family.

Driving her car and apparently drunk, she smashed head-on into a coach on Stubbs Road in Happy Valley at midnight on January 27...

She suffers from attention deficit disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, and alcohol abuse, and has had various troubles with the law. In June 2001, she assaulted a police officer who intervened in a dispute she had outside a Peel Street bar; after her arrest, small amounts of cocaine were found on her person. The HK judiciary have now basically told the public (and the police) that they're too stupid to understand the way the law is administered, so shut up complaining over the Bokhary debacle...
