The 6th Dalai Lama Who Refused To Be Dalai Lama Passion for women was too much

I never heard about this story. I thought that any Dalai Lama was the reincarnation of the previous one and hence could not really change that much from one life to another.
Obviously, this one 'screwed up' a bit, and not only the reincarnation process...

i am not too familiar with the dalai lama in tibeten buddhism.

however buddhism does not have a belief in re-incarnation which is the same soul being reborn in a different from. it believes in re-birth. as i understand the buddha taught that that there is no self and it is the illusion of a sense of self that leads to re-birth.

as far as i get it we are all a process rather a 'being'. so in essence you will most definitely change from one birth to the next, just as we change throughout our lives.

AFAIK the dalai lama is supposed to be a boddhisatva, a person who forgoes his enlightenment in order to help his fellow man in the path (of buddhism). And so is re-born. If i am wrong about this feel free to correct me.

In terms of spirituality i am sure that the dalai lamas compare favourably with the popes thoughout history. :D
