Victoria Peak

Victoria Peak (otherwise known as The Peak amongst Hong Kong residents) is the most popular tourist attraction in the territory. It's no surprise, as it offers stunning views of Victoria Harbour, the city lights and the Kowloon Peninsula. Millions make the journey to the top of this mountain every year to enjoy the views, which are particularly pleasant at night.

There are the usual tourist traps at The Peak, in the form of the Peak tower (which is also where you join the Peak Tram), including gift shops, restaurants, a branch of Madame Tussauds and a viewing deck.

A lesser known aspect of Victoria Peak are the bamboo forests with lilliputian Chinese pines and other attractive plant life. Local residents often take advantage of the cooler air and walk along surprisingly quiet paths and trails.

It is also home to a very wealthy elite, as it is probably the most expensive places to live in Hong Kong due to the cleaner air and surprisingly placid atmosphere so close to the central business district and it covers Mount Kellet, Jardine's Corner, Plantation Road and Victoria Gap. Hiking trails are also nearby.
