Budget Flights to Hong Kong and London

Oasis Airlines takes budget air travel long haul...

Environmentalists must've had steam coming our of their ears when they heard about the launch of Oasis Airlines, the latest Hong Kong based carrier to operate 747 long haul flights to Europe... only this time, with a budget business model, one way fares starting at less that 100 British Pounds.

Unusually however, Oasis will be offering similar frills as the established full service airlines, such as meals, in flight entertainment systems and business class options. At least 10 percent of seats are expected to be sold at budget prices.

Steven Miller, the very same man that set up Dragonair, promises to send shock waves through the airline industry and is going into direct competition with carriers such as Cathay Pacific and British Airways. At the time of writing, Oasis expects to be flying to a range of destinations in just a few months time, after the trial service to London's Gatwick Airport.

Aviation industry watchers are predicting price drops across the airlines if Oasis becomes a success. Oasis currently (26/10/06) has a fleet of two 747-412 aircraft that used to belong to Singapore Airlines and seat pitch is advertised as being as good as, if not superior to competitors leg room.
