Neptune 2
Neptune 2 disco is located Jaffe Road, Wan Chai, just a few yards from the intersection with Luard Road and is one of Wan Chai's few clubs that is open almost till dawn. It is quite easy to spot with its neon sign above the door and a narrow staircase leads down into the underground premises.
Favoured by expats and business travellers looking for a slightly seedier side of Hong Kong, you can drink here until around 5 a.m. depending on the amount of custom. Naturally, weekends are the busiest times and you'll struggle to find a place at the bar. Like most places here, friendly waitresses are on hand to bring your drinks if you can't find an opening at the bar, although they can be a little pushy if you're standing with a nearly empty glass.
There is a cover charge for entry but this is almost never enforced and you can enter without paying. As a first time visitor, you may be a little surprised if you enter in quieter periods to find an almost completely female clientele. The fact is, many of them are freelance prostitutes hoping for a client and they are allowed free admission and drinks so they'll sit at the bar and make the place look busy and interesting for paying customers. You may be equally surprised to find that the languages spoken in the club are Thai, Tagalog, Indonesian or Vietnamese. Many girls come to Hong Kong on short tourist visas to work in the sex industry for a time before their visa expires, when they leave and return at a later date. filipino maids also often visit this bar and many of the bar staff are Filipino.
A live act is there most nights, playing at various intervals through the night. While a little seedy and drab, this place can be good fun if you take it for what it is. Prices are on a par with other expat bars and clubs in Hong Kong.
