Strawberry Disco in Wan Chai

Strawberry is located on Hennessy Road in Wan Chai and is generally open later than any other disco, often till 7 a.m. and is probably busiest when other places have closed a few hours earlier. Great fun this place, with people converging here from a wide area through the night. Don't assume that all the girls here are working girls. I made this mistake once and caused offense when I rejected her attempts at conversation. It turns out she was a Thai financier for a Japanese company with an office in Bangkok and she became one of my best friends.

However, there is an element of freelance prostitution here and be aware than there is a policy in this disco to pay drinks commissions to girls who have beverages purchased for them by male customers. It is a practice seen in many Wan Chai nightclubs but it's done very discretely, so you won't notice if you don't know what to look for. Don't complain about it or kick up a fuss, just accept it as part of the landscape here and if you find it objectionable, either go elsewhere or don't buy drinks. It's a little tacky and somewhere you would end up when everywhere else is closed. Strawberry is usually dead before 3 a.m. but gets very busy later.
