Malaysia Expat
Malaysia is becoming increasingly important in the region economically and Malaysian society is steadily becoming more pluralist in outlook. The biggest cities boast gleaming modern skylines while the coasts offer some of the most beautiful beaches in the region.
Due to the degrading political situation in Thailand, the increasing cost of living and the shabby infrastructure over the border in that country, Malaysia is increasingly being seen as an alternative to Thailand for retirement. It's also arguable that long term visa arrangements are handled better in Malaysia. This means a sizable portion of foreigners living here are no longer working and are enjoying their hard earned money. Pensions tend to go a lot further than in the west... and of course foreign remittances are not taxable in Malaysia.
