The Philippines consists of thousands of islands in warm tropical waters, which are almost as warm as the people of the Philippines themselves. It is the only English speaking country in Asia, creating a strangely unique culture all of it's own. Expatriates can have a very high standard of living for their money while here, with low rents, readily available household help/maids, a wide range of entertainment including lively bars, restaurants, golf courses and dream tropical beach resorts. Year round warm weather adds to the attraction of this country.
The Filipino people just love foreigners, expatriates and those who choose to retire here. That said, many expats have a love/hate relationship with the country. The Philippines suffers from extreme socio-economic problems, compounded by a rapidly growing population. More on that later.
Of course, the Filipino women are well known for their beauty and the men have a reputation with foreign women as being romantic and handsome. Filipinos are also unusually tolerant of foreign cultures, making your transition into life here relatively easy and pain free. In fact, many Filipinos have traveled the world in search of work, the people being one of The Philippine's biggest exports.
