Thailand Expat

Thailand is a Southeast Asian, mostly Buddhist, kingdom almost half way between India and China. For hundreds of years known to outsiders as Siam, Thailand has been something of a Southeast Asian migratory, cultural and religious crossroads.

Thailand has borders with Burma to the west and north, Cambodia to the west, and Malaysia to the south. There are richly forested mountains in the north and west, rain-forest in the south, and white-sand beaches along the coast, which is on the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea.

Thailand boasts its own distinctive culture. There is also the unique Thai language and alphabet, cuisine, martial arts, beliefs and attitudes. These fascinating people speak a language that is almost incomprehensible to the casual visitor, something seen as a humorous advantage to some and a source of frustration to others. To confuse visitors and expatriates even more, each region has its own distinctive dialect.

Thailand is a mysterious, complex, beautiful, hot, steamy place that is truly a land of extremes. As a visitor or as a long term expatriate, you'll never grow tired of Thailand.
