British Racing Green in Surin

I wrote this article 4 years ago for another website but never sent it in. I just found it and decided to post it here.
'Tread Softly because you tread on my dreams' - W.B. Yeats.
When all is lost, you still have your dreams, so they say. That's what kept me going through one of the worst times in my life. We all have big dreams, we all have small dreams. I think it the ones that are feasible that persist and the ones you truly long for... the ones that you think are really not too much to ask for.
For most, I think, as the years roll by and each day is just one more closer to death, you give up on world domination, forget about fabulous wealth. I dropped out of the '2.4 kids, society wife, nice new automobile, nice house in the English countryside with easy access to the nearest city' ideal a long long time ago. I never had it and it was never really what I wanted anyway.
Now, I work relentlessly in England and feverishly push to rebuild my small but adequate empire. I hope it won't be long before I have my dream and live out my life in a relaxed, not so wealthy but adequate set up with my girl in Surin.
We will build a simple but nice house near her village. It will probably be raised to avoid the ground dwelling bugs/snakes and annual flooding. It will have a reasonably sized workshop underneath where I will work on my project... ah, my project... I will find an old British Built automobile and keep it in my workshop where I will spend my free time restoring it. There will be no hurry, I will have all the time in the world. When complete, it will be just like the day it left the factory. I will import some British racing green paint and give it a new coat. The day it is completed and I roll it out into the street for it's trial run, all the village will come out to see in celebration. The monks will come round to bless it. Flowers will abound. My little piece of old England will fire into life when I turn the key and that gorgeous sound of a classic British racing car will fill the air gloriously... I will have my dream... my girl, my car, my house in Surin and all the time in the world to enjoy it. Don't dare to get in the way of my dream, it's all I want now and it's not too much to ask for.
So, if you just happen to be in Surin in the next few years and you see a streak of British racing green tear down the country roads, maybe, just maybe, it'll be me and my girl on our way to the market in my lovingly restored British Grand Tourismo. Stand aside!
