Gay Saphan Kwai

Just a short walk from the Saphan Kwai BTS station in Bangkok is a small but fairly popular gay area with host bars, karaokes and a couple of gay gogo bars.

To get there, head south back towards central Bangkok from the Skytrain station and at the first intersection you come to, take a right onto Pradiphat Road. On the left is Pradiphat Soi 20, where a cluster of gay bars at the junction with Soi Lalewan will be obvious when you walk down the narrow street.

This area has a number of other gay venues spread thinly over the surrounding sois, all near enough for you to explore on foot. If in doubt, just ask a motorbike taxi which way to go (they're in orange vests all over the place).

This part of Saphan Kwai caters to Thai male clientlle but foreigners are welcome. Some think it makes a nice change from the high pressure environment of the more well known gay areas, such as those in Silom.
