Thai Massage
Something every visitor to Thailand should experience is a traditional Thai massage. Unfortunately, tell your friends back home that you visited a massage parlor and they'll get the wrong end of the stick, probably assuming you had visited some kind of seedy establishment for some 'extra services'.
Certainly, there are two types of massage available, one of which is a cover for prostitution and it's difficult to say which type is more popular, both types being available just about everywhere you look it would seem. Leaving aside the more naughty massage, if you want a traditional Thai massage, then they are invariably available at good hotels and they are a refreshing, healthy way to relax and wind down from a busy day. They are usually very reasonably priced and offer a therapeutic experience from old traditions.
Beware however, that if the word 'traditional' is missing from the sign above the door, you may well be offered certain services you didn't expect. If you're a first time visitor and not sure what to look out for, if you're staying in a respectable hotel you should be safe with the massages on offer in house.
